Every couple of years a story makes the rounds about the fashionistas among us and the growing trend of foot surgery for the sake of stilettos. And each time this happens, doctors go on record telling us that this is a bad idea. According to the Daily Mail, the number of procedures has doubled this year and range from the mild, collagen injections, to the extremes of toe shortening and narrowing of the foot.

NYC Stroll

In my effort to live a more balanced life, I’m spending more time traveling on foot so I can take in more of the city. I picked up some flowers and did some strolling on the Upper West Side, ending up at the reservoir in Central Park. I haven’t been there in so long and when I saw the water on the horizon, it made my whole week.

When I was a kid Donna Summer was my fantasy mom. I used to spend hours in my little girl hideaway, which was an overhead storage area above my mom’s bedroom closet, clipping pictures of Donna from Ebony Magazine and dreaming up little scenarios where she’d bake sweet treats for me in our palatial kitchen.
