    Holiday Makeup Inspiration
Every year for Christmas we head to my brother’s home for feasting and fun and we are usually quite the casual bunch. This year, I thought I’d dress up a bit and wow the kiddies with a little high-intensity holiday beauty. I pulled together a few looks for inspiration (for you and me) and I only hope that our makeup application skills can pull off one of these stunning looks. Here’s hoping!

    Holiday Makeup Inspiration #1

Lupita Nyong’o’s silver smoke is dazzling. Try the Christian Dior ‘5 Couleurs Designer’ Eyeshadow Palette in Navy Design or Maybelline Eye Studio Eyeshadow Quad in Pink Persuasion. Keep your lippy shiny without the shimmer using Yves Saint Laurent’s ‘Rouge Volupte Sheer Candy’ Glossy Lip Balm in Juicy Grapefruit.

    Holiday Makeup Inspiration #2

Blue eyeshadow can go so wrong so fast and I’m always a little nervous about going all in with an intense color like this, but Cynthia Bailey from the Real Housewives of Atlanta does a marvelous job. For excellent staying power, try Covergirl Queen Collection Eyeshadow Quads in Blue Notes or Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24-hour Cream Gel Shadow in Sapphire Siren.

This romantic look from Kerry Washington is close to my go-to eye look but Kerry adds a little extra sparkle with mauve and plum shades from Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow in Exposure. Another great option is NYX Love in Paris Eyeshadow Palette in A La Mode.

These amazing lips were created by makeup artist Pat McGrath for a Christian Dior couture show using loose glitter applied over theatrical adhesive. Not exactly real-world friendly but you can approximate the look with the shimmery MAC Dazzleglass in Sugarrimmed applied over a deep rose or red. With such a high-wattage lip, you definitely want to keep the rest of your face (and your hair) understated. NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Iceland fits the bill rather nicely.

Cheers to a beautiful holiday season and drop a comment to let me know which look you’ll try. Thanks for reading!
