Pro Skincare At Home With Trophy Skin MicrodermMD

Younger looking skin. We all strive to get it, have it, keep it. But how do we achieve it? If you’re a regular reader, you know that skincare is my jam. My motto is Skin Care > Skin Cover and I’m always chattering on about the importance of taking care of your skin. And one of the habits I always recommend is regular exfoliation. The science is clear. Regularly removing dead skin cells is a sure way to a brighter complexion and a more youthful appearance. All manner of anti-aging lotions and potions are available and a great many are quite effective, but if you’re slathering all those good ingredients on dead skin cells, the newer skin cells are not getting the benefit.

Trophy Skin MicrodermMD

Over the counter exfoliators are great for at-home exfoliation but nothing beats a trip to your dermatologist or esthetician for a deep exfoliation. Of course, those treatments can add up to big dollars over the long haul, so I’m happy to tell you about an at-home, professional-grade microdermabrasion system from Trophy Skin.

I received the Trophy Skin MicrodermMD Microdermabrasion System, which is one of three at-home microdermabrasion products available. It’s designed to quickly remove the dull and dead skin cells that build up over time to reveal the brighter, more youthful skin beneath. When used regularly, this microdermabrasion system employs a diamond exfoliation and gentle suction action to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, visible pores and scarring. It also smooths and softens your skin for a more radiant look.

How To Use The Trophy Skin MicrodermMD Microdermabrasion System

Let me begin by saying that while I jumped at the chance to try this system, I was more than a little scared about performing microdermabrasion on myself. Diamond tips, suction systems, zones of the face, properly wielding the wand so as not to maim myself?! Come on! But, fear of the unknown aside, I persisted.

Of course, detailed instructions are provided and there’s even a How-To Video Guide on DVD to help you get the best results. The machine itself guides you through the entire process letting you know how long to spend on each section of your face and the proper technique.

The whole process takes about five minutes beginning on your forehead and moving through each section of your face and then on to your neck and chest. The exfoliator removes the surface layer of your skin promoting cell turnover and the suction increases blood flow and helps stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

The MicrodermMD is safe for all skin types including sensitive skin and it is recommended that you treat your skin twice a week for best results. Being of the sensitive skin variety, I’m going to start with once a week and see how it goes. Stay tuned for a follow up post in the coming weeks.

My Problem Areas And My First Treatment

My skin is in pretty good shape overall but there are some trouble spots that have been creeping up over the years and I would like to see some happy results in those areas. Notably, I’ve developed some minor discoloration around my mouth and chin and I’m anxious to see if the MicrodermMD will help diminish the appearance of those dark spots on my cheeks. There’s also a pore thing happening around my nose that I swear was not there a couple of years ago!

I have to say, all initial trepidation aside, my first treatment went very smoothly, once I steadied myself, of course. As with any microdermabrasion treatment, there was some redness left behind after each stroke, but that faded quickly. A word to the wise, you have to work quickly because some sections of the face only get a few seconds before you have to move on to the next one. And if you’re a slowpoke, some spots may get missed. It’s really important to follow the machine’s lead because the auto mode, which is for beginners, cycles through the different levels of speed and suction that are appropriate for each area of the face. Don’t be stuck on your eyes when you’re supposed to be doing your cheeks. No bueno!

Overall, I liked my treatment with the MicrodermMD and I’m looking forward to making it a regular part of my skincare routine. It also comes with an extraction tip for deep cleaning pores, which I sorely need, and an infusion tip that pushes creams and serums deep into the skin for better absorption.

I will do a followup post in a few weeks so you can see my results, so stay tuned!

  1. This looks like a cool gadget! I think I found something new to add to my Christmas list!

  2. Microderm has been on my bucket list forever but I’ve never made the jump. This machine looks fancy but convenient so I may have to give it a try. Maybe I can add it to my Christmas list.

It is pretty fancy and so much fun! Trophy Skin has smaller, more portable tools for microdermabrasion too, so maybe one of those could be a way to ease into it.

  3. Omg i need this. My skin is starting to betray me further. Im so bad about skin care. I didnt know at home things like this even existed!! You have great skin.

    1. Patranila says:

Get on those trouble spots early, I’ve noticed some betrayal myself. It’s heartbreaking. I’m having a ton of fun with the MicrodermMD though. I’m dermablading everything in sight. LOL!

  4. I’ve always been curious about micro. I’ve had acne for a long time, and a few people have suggested I give this a try! Thanks for your informative post on the inner workings of it

    1. Patranila says:

You’re welcome! I would also recommend seeing a dermatologist to deal with your acne if over-the-counter products aren’t working for you. Nothing beats a professional.

  5. I’ve never tried something like this before. It’s great to hear a first-person account of the treatment. I’m definitely noticing some skin changes as I’m getting close to 30 next year!

  6. I have struggled with my skin for a very long time, and I can’t tell you how many different things I’ve tried. This is something I’m definitely looking into.

  7. As I get older I am getting constant breakouts on my temples and I’ve been debating on getting something like this. Something that’s five minutes isn’t too hard to do!

    1. Patranila says:

Right! The five minutes goes by so quickly. I’m so accustomed to spending more time with facial treatments that I had to force myself to put the wand down and not do it for longer.

  8. I find this fascinating! I would have been apprehensive too but reading about your experience calmed my nerves!

  9. Those dang dark spots as we age, I have a few! I’ll have to check this out and see if it diminishes the discoloration. I like that it doesn’t take long to do and that it’s not everyday ; ) … thanks!

  10. I’ve had microdermabrasion done professionally a few times and I think it is wonderful. I wasn’t aware that there were home systems available. I would probably be apprehensive trying to do it myself, especially trying to keep up with the auto mode and keeping up with which zone I should be in. It would be great to be able to do it at home though.

    1. Patranila says:

I totally know what you mean Jessica. I was super nervous about doing it myself but it really is quite easy to do. The learning curve isn’t too steep at all. You should definitely try it if you’re a fan of microdermabrasion treatments.

  11. wow what a cool gadget you can get this treatment in a spa but better to do it at home =) will write to Santa to get one under the tree

    1. Patranila says:

LOL! I hope Santa comes through for you. Tell him he can get a good discount!
