A Study in Blues
Blue was my favorite color when I was a kid. It was also my mom’s favorite and I think I may have adopted it as my own from sheer proximity. Or maybe osmosis. Either way, once I realized that I might have co-opted my choice from my mom, I set out to find my own ‘favorite’ color as a way to establish my youthful independence. SMH. Who knows where I landed but I’m now squarely back in the blue camp and this outfit is a true testament to that favor.

Blue Wrap Dress – Kiyonna || Teddy Coat – Something Navy (previous season) similar here and here || Suede Bootie – Bella-Vita (sold out) similar here || Necklace – c/o Wendy Mignot Pearls
With so many shades to choose from, blue can be deep enough to add a little mystery and light enough to brighten the dreariest of days.
When I ordered this wrap dress, I was expecting a more muted hue but I’m so pleasantly surprised that it doesn’t look anything like it does on the site. It’s much more vibrant IRL and I couldn’t be more pleased.
It’s a Wrap
Wrap dresses are so easy to wear and can take you from work, to a night out, to a fancy shindig with a simple change of accessories. I am already in danger of having worn this dress too many times. As if!
I discovered the Kiyonna brand a couple of years ago inside a Gywnnie Bee subscription box and I’ve been in love ever since. Their tops and dresses fit like a dream for me. As I’m currently on the smaller end of the plus size spectrum, Kiyonna’s cuts are great for me. Comfortable but not too roomy. AND they’re available at my favorite retailer, Nordstrom, so shipping is usually free! I’m wearing a size 1X.
Something Navy
Now about this coat. Oh, this coat. How can I express how much I love it? It is my favorite purchase from last season and I’m so glad we’re not quite done with the teddy coat craze because I’m still wearing it as much as I can.
Designed by Something Navy fashion blogger turned entrepreneur, Arielle Charnas, it’s a Nordstrom exclusive. This particular coat is no longer available but I encourage you to take a look at this season’s collection. Her design aesthetic combines classic silhouettes with a touch of fun and whimsy at an affordable price point. Here for it!
